With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, 5th class decided to take a look at what exactly gets our heart fluttering! We began by listening to the heart beat using stethoscopes before looking at a model of the heart. Children were eager to start the dissection of the sheep’s heart and performed the surgery with great gusto!

We owe a huge thank you to Mairéad Hussey who kindly gave up her time from UL to help us out. Mairéad brought along the stethoscopes, posters and the model of the heart which everyone availed of. She was a wealth of information and a great help.
