SEACHTAIN NA GAEILGE: 9Ú-13Ú MARTA LÁ GLAS 2015
Reachtáileadh Seachtain na Gaeilge ó 10ú – 14ú Márta 2014. Bhí atmaisféar croíúil spraíúil le brath thart timpeall na scoile agus bhain chuile dhuine an-chuid taitnimh as! Children trying their best to use their cúpla focal were rewarded with a lucky dip from the Mála Gaeilge in their classrooms, and Gaeilgeoir an Lae was awarded every day to the child who made the most effort in their class! Songs and poems were recited over the intercom twice daily for the week by children from 1st to 4th classes. A highlight of the week was the Irish Dancing! We were very fortunate to have Orfhlaith Ní Bhriain come to Milford NS and give every class a dancing session! Seachtain na Gaeilge culminated in a day of fun, music, dance and celebration on Friday 14th. An exciting CEOLCHOIRM was held and every class level performed a highly entertaining amhrán. The teachers even sang a song at the end! Mr. Nelligan, Mr. Moore, Mr. Gallagher and some children from Rang a Trí led all of the children in a whole school Haka Gaelach. Ms. O’Meara then led everyone in an Irish dance as a whole school. It was fantastic to see so many children moving in unison. Some Irish Dancers then danced for everybody. Íde, Grace, Leah (Mr. Kelly’s 5th class,) and Andrew (Ms. Taylor’s 6th class) concluded the day’s celebrations by taking the microphone and leading the school in Amhrán na bhFiann. Míle buíochas to the teachers and classroom assistants for preparing the children for all the activities and to everyone who helped make the week a success.
