Music Generation
Music Generation is a Music Network initiative. The programme directly links with the National Music Curriculum areas and requirements. The Three Term structure corresponds with the Music Curriculum divisions – Listening/ Responding and Performing. The visiting musicians worked on skills building with an added composition element, working towards creating original pieces of work with each group. The pinnacle of the the initiative was the Music Generation National School Summit took place in Thomond Park on Tuesday, 13th June. Third and Fourth Classes were the lucky participants in this structured programme. When they arrived at the world famous venue, the children were guided to the stands where all 1,200 National School children from around Limerick gathered together to create a group on the spot piece of music. Then they got the chance to see the work they had completed throughout the year. Finally, the children were guided to main conference space where they got to experience a musical show put on by Music Generation. Many thanks to Ms. Angela Reidy for coordinating the initiative in our school.
