Science Week – Senior Infants make Play Dough
On Wednesday of science week Ms. Moloney’s Senior Infants set out to discover if they could make play dough using flour, oil, salt, water and food colouring. In order to prepare for this experiment we wrote up four simple steps to follow. Once we were confident of these steps we began our experiment. We used cups and spoons to measure our ingredients. Our favourite part of this experiment was kneading the dough. We observed that the food colouring was not making our play dough very bright, so some of the senior infants suggested using our paint as a substitute. Also our first batch of play dough was a little bit dry and crumbly, so the children suggested adding extra water which made it soft and moist. We now consider ourselves ‘play dough experts’!
