Milford N.S. School Evacuation Statement
Dear Parents,
Milford National School received a telephone threat at 9:45am this morning at which point we deemed it necessary to activate our critical incident response procedures. The school was immediately evacuated and we worked closely with the Gardaí and other emergency services to ensure the safety of all at Milford N.S.
Parents were made aware of the situation through our text-a-parent service and were updated and reassured as information was made available by Gardaí. Milford N.S. was declared safe just before noon. Children and staff subsequently returned safely to class.
At this point, all classes have been spoken to about today’s events by the Senior Management Team, reassuring them of their safety, while at the same time explaining the necessity for evacuating today. Our priority at all times was to ensure the safety of all the children and staff.
Thankfully, all the children were happy playing in the sunshine today. However, we are aware that some children may have questions and will need to discuss this incident and be reassured by parents tonight. As a staff, we will monitor the wellbeing of the children in the coming days. Please do not hesitate to contact our school if we can be of further assistance.
We would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Gardaí and Emergency Services for their swift and professional response, all the pupils and staff at Milford N.S. for their meticulous attention to our evacuation procedures, the Salesian Community for their wonderful help and to you, our parents, for your cooperation and support.
Yours sincerely,
Critical Incident Team – Milford National School
