u13 Boys City Football Champions
The u13 Boys Football team capped a fantastic year’s football by winning the City Championship against local rivals Monaleen N.S. on the 22nd of October. It is only the 3rd time in the history of the school that we have won this competition and great credit is due to the boys who have been training hard since early September with their coaches Mr. Kelly and Ms. Ryan . The boys won the final on a comprehensive score line of 4-13 to 1-3 against a gallant Monaleen side who fought bravely until the very end. Joint captains, Eric Strich (1-8) and Kai Joyce both played a captains role and were worthy receivers of the Spillane Cup. Eric was joined on the scoreboard by fellow classmates Cillian Frain (1-2) and Joesph Fitzgerald (1-3). Ben Hayes chipped in with a superb goal to complete the scoring.
The boys played a total of 6 games en route to the final and were unbeaten going into the Gaelic Grounds. It was a record they weren’t going to relinquish easily with the whole panel of 30 players playing their part all year. Well done to all involved.
The boys go on to face the West Champions, Abbeyfeale BNS in the county semi-final this Friday the 20thNovember in what promises to be another teak tough encounter. We wouldn’t have it any other way!
