Under the Hawthorn Tree with Geoff Hunt!
All three Senior Infants have had a super day today with our nature expert, Geoff Hunt. The children put on their wellies and raincoats and ventured out for a nature walk around the school grounds. We collected some hawthorn leaves, flowers and berries from a nearby tree and brought them back to the classroom to examine them under a microscope. Geoff showed the children how to do detailed drawings of the enlarged hawthorn blossom, and they each made a booklet to take home. They also got to see a shieldbug under the microscope and drew what they saw into their booklets.
Thanks for a great day Geoff! Geoff can be found at www.heritageinschools.ie
